Year 7

During year 7, all pupils sing various songs which they have learnt in class in a concert in the summer term; this concert has a different theme each year. As well as preparing for this performance, pupils study:

• Playing and Performing
• Minimalism

Year 8

The first half of year 8 focuses on keyboard skills; the latter half builds on this with some composition projects using our music ICT suite. The units of work are:

• Variation Form
• Programme Music
• Film Music
• Samba Drumming
• Folk Music
• Dance Music

Year 9

This year charts the development of popular music, and builds on the keyboard skills developed in year 8; units of work are:

• African Music
• The Blues
• Rock and Roll
• Reggae
• Pop Music Arranging
• Dub, Drum n Bass and Hip Hop
• Radio Shows
